Kristin and Kyle’s Hotel du Pont Wedding in Wilmington, Delaware was nothing short of amazing. They had the wedding they dreamed of at an iconic venue surrounded by all of their close friends and family. I’m always so honored to the one capturing wedding days! Kristin and Kyle thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful day!
All we do is laugh. Literally at everything. Also, every answer, is “yes I can make that work”. All he does is help everyone else. Basically the nicest guy who only wants the best for the people he cares about. I hit the lotto and tell him that and I couldn’t imagine life without him.
What I love most about Kristin is that we share the same values, have very similar goals, and are usually thinking on the same page. Kristin also has a very strong sense of loyalty among her family and friends that is very admirable. Whether we are staying inside on a Friday evening, or traveling around the country, we always seem to be laughing and finding the best in each other.
I knew that I did not necessarily want to do a barn/farm reception location since my sister did that three years ago and knocked it out of the park. Kyle’s best friend also got married last year and it was amazing but also at a barn type location. Originally our preference was anything that our friends had not done….which meant probably not doing a bunch of the venues in Philly that are great, but we at some point had gone to multiple weddings at the same location and thought that it wasn’t distinct enough.
We never thought we would get married at a hotel and were looking into off the beaten path locations but didn’t love the venue or the people there. We went to Hotel Du Pont thinking it was gorgeous but being 100 percent inside might not be us, but once we got there and compared it to our other options we were surprised we kept comparing everything to that. For us, it ultimately came back to Hotel du Pont.
We are going to go with navy for bridesmaid dresses. The guys are going to wear grey tuxedos. The flowers are going to be bit more on the wild side but we also wanted to make sure they are elegant enough to match the venue and the florist went with that. We are pretty go with the flow kind of people and as long as everyone is having fun we are going to be super happy. Family is a big deal for us. We are super excited about the wedding but for us we are most happy to throw a great party that people will remember.
We are most looking forward to having everyone who we care about at the same place at the same time. It means a lot to us for our family to feel included and taken care of. The bottom line is we love most when everyone is hanging around having a good time. We are always hosting parties and are the ones who people ask if we are having a “4th of July party, labor day, flag day etc”.
The ceremony is very important to us but the real deal is that I could marry him tomorrow without the fancy wedding and that makes us work. In our world we are having a fancy wedding and we laugh because it is what we want but if went to city hall tomorrow it would be just as grand.
