Caroline and Ed’s Cescaphe Down Town Club Wedding was full of elegance and charm. I was so excited to be a part of their wedding day! It was an absolutely perfect Friday summer evening in the city of Philadelphia. I love all the special touches they had for their day. From the airline wings for their guests (Ed is a pilot!), to the bright colored florals and navy blue bridesmaids dresses, and even a surprise appearance from Ben Franklin himself! It was a beautiful wedding day from start to finish and I can’t wait for you to check it out!
Ed has been devoted to me from the moment we met and has never let a day pass without a reminder. It’s especially apparent when he’s traveling (and we spend a lot of time apart!) In the beginning it was daily phone calls, emails, and text messages to let me know he was thinking about me. As things progressed, we added Facetime to the routine and countless “I love yous.” Our rituals of communicating love continue to this day. It’s an incredible feeling to know that someone cares so much for you that they want to spend the rest of their life with you.
I have been attracted to ‘my’ Caroline from the day we met; not only in terms of her appearance, but her kindness, her caring, her sense of adventure, and her thoughtfulness. One thing that always drew me to Caroline were her family values; it was always understood that our families would be an important part of our lives forever. I’ve always felt that our relationship together has been easy; everything seems to flow well and we compliment each other nicely…except for (as anyone who knows us would tell you) our glaring political differences! She’s fantastic and diligent at making sure important issues get resolved, and accepting of my occasional faults. I love our sense of adventure together, as I highlighted in an earlier question. She’s always up for a fun hike, a night out in NYC, or joining me on a work trip.
Ed and I are getting married at the same church where my parents were married over 40 years ago. It’s also the parish in which I was raised, and where I regularly sing for services and weddings.
Ed and I wanted a reception venue that captured the spirit of Philadelphia – the place where we fell in love. The Down Town Club hit that mark in every way from its location adjacent to Independence Park, to its classic design, to its panoramic windows showcasing the city. We’re so excited to share this beautiful city and venue with our friends and family on our wedding day.
Hopefully our wedding will be elegant, but not uptight! We want our guests to enjoy themselves, eat and drink well, and to have a lot of fun!! The women will be in navy and their bouquets will be colorful. Ed wanted the “James Bond” look, so the men will be in classic black tuxes. There isn’t a particular theme for the wedding, but we’ve managed to make small nods at some of our interests (ie. Philadelphia, Disney, theatre, travel, etc) – through the music and the details.
I’m looking forward to actually getting married, and to being able to celebrate with our families and friends; I’m positive it’ll be a fantastic party. It’s the culmination of a fun 3 years dating. After, we have a pretty fantastic honeymoon lined up to Kenya for a safari, and then the Seychelles…so that’s definitely some excitement too.
