Today I am sharing Tierney and Corey’s Lehigh University Wedding at Packer Memorial Chapel and Northampton Country Club! I have loved working with Tierney and Corey since the moment they first contacted me. They are both incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and hilarious. Their love for one another is perfect and I absolutely adore them.
As nineteen year olds, very early on, both Corey and I knew we would be married. We accepted the idea that we loved one another VERY early on. Qe accepted it from the other person, because we knew it could be true, we felt it for them too. MOST?! It is so hard to pick a most. I light up when I talk about Corey, every time, seven years together. I love him because he is unapologetically himself. That self is smart, hilarious, kind, and the most honest person I have ever met. I have zero concerns about Corey ever lying, he is honest to a fault. I love him because he makes me laugh too many times a day to even count even when I announce that he is not funny. He is a study in contractions, loving, thoughtful, analytical, handy, supportive beyond belief.
Before writing this I thought it would be hard to put my finger on why I love him, because the feeling is so comfortable, easy and all consuming that I did not know I had the words to describe it.
So, just to give you an idea as to how we’re answering these last two questions. I’m writing my response in Word because she doesn’t want me to be influenced by what she wrote. Now, without hesitation, I easily know that what she wrote is incredible thoughtful, well worded, with just the perfect amount of sappiness – it just comes so naturally and easy to her. That is a quality that I really admire in and love about her. I love that she laughs at essentially everything I say and I love when she laughs at herself. I know that means that neither her nor I are very funny, but for some strange reason we find each other hilarious.
But, mainly, after only a few days of meeting, we were/are so comfortable with each other that it was very clear that we’d spend our lives together.
I think it’s safe to say that to me, our wedding is an affirmation of the way we already feel and live our lives. As complete partners, unconditionally loving one another, having the most fun and feeling happiest when we are with each other and acknowledging that for the rest of our lives our future will be shared and we could not be happier about that. I do not think much is going to change, except me feeling old being a Mrs.
We consider ourselves traditional. Most of the plans for the day follow, what I know of, as a routine course of events. Corey has requested the men to be in tuxes, I will have my bridesmaids all in a slate/dusty blue color. We are thinking a lot of greenery with peach/pale orange and light blue accents for flowers. (Hinting at fall is my hope). We envision a lot of dancing, a lot of happy people, the happiest two being US of course. And I think for both of us, we are additionally excited to be getting married at Lehigh because it is special to our close friends who are in the wedding party, also Lehigh classmates who have seen our relationship evolve and blossom from the start, until the day we say “I do”.
Well, this was an easier decision than picking what movie we want to watch on a Friday night. Our relationship, love story, home, school and now, my place of work are all LEHIGH University. We have such a strong connection to the school individually, but as a couple our ties are emotional, happy, romantic and special to us. (Corey would scoff at me saying this) I feel like getting married at Lehigh in Packer Memorial Chapel is an ode to our love and our future. With such happiness in this place characterizing our relationship and finding one another, I could not even fathom our marriage and union at a more fitting site (and did not even consider another one).
Northampton Country Club was the second, and clearly last venue we saw. I bought my parents who came out to view it with us. Upon chatting after our tour as a group, my parents looked at us and said, this is it. It’s you guys. To be honest, Corey is minorly obsessed with the size of a dance floor. I thought it was lovely, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and the dance floor met Corey’s criteria. Sold.
